West of Wright, Kansas at the junction of US 50/283, go north to the Ford/Hodgeman County line about nine miles. Turn to the east about 1 1/2 miles to two markers on the right side of the road. At this point ruts of the Fort Hays/Fort Dodge Road crossed the road heading for the treeline or Sawlog Creek to the south and over the hill in the distance to the southwest. These Fort Hays/Fort Dodge Road ruts can be seen from the road till they go out of site over the hill. These ruts are on private property and no roads are to them. This is as close to them as you can get and the best view. The ruts run to the south for over four miles.
